Katie West Yoga provides yoga instruction through online and in-person classes, within private 1:1 and women’s gatherings, and during workshops and immersions. Katie West Yoga also provides yoga holidays and retreats across Australia and abroad.
It is our intention to share knowledge and experience in a way which is accessible, helpful and of benefit to you. However, we do live in a commercial world where services are provided and paid for. Therefore, please read these terms and conditions to ensure we have a clear understanding of where we stand in regards to this exchange.
If you wish to continue by making your booking or entering an online membership you are agreeing to enter a contract with us on these terms and conditions.
Online yoga membership, courses and classes conditions
1. Online yoga prices
All advertised online yoga offerings are quoted in Australian dollars (AUD).
2. Age Restrictions
The minimum age to use this Site is 18 years old. By using this Site, users agree that they are over 18 years old. We do not assume any legal responsibility for false statements about age.
3. Online yoga membership
For pay-monthly membership holders, you can attend any classes, and can cancel your membership at any time. If you cancel, you may continue to attend classes until the next date on which a monthly payment would have been due. We do not refund a part of a month.
‘Drop-in’ or ‘class pass’ bookings are non-refundable for no shows. So if you are unable to join a live online class, please email me 24 hours in advance of the scheduled class.
If you are practicing with us for the very first time via a live class, please let us know of any injuries or medical conditions.
We may need to cancel or amend a class at short notice. We will inform you of any schedule changes.
For live online classes, please arrive a few minutes early so that we can start on time. A short grace period will be allowed during warm-up, following that no students will be admitted into the online space.
4. Online yoga – your health and safety
You are responsible for your own health, safety and wellbeing at all times during online yoga activities. Seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health professional before starting or changing any exercise program or making a lifestyle change. This is particularly important if you are overweight, pregnant, nursing, regularly taking medications, or have existing medical conditions.
The Katie West Yoga site does not provide medical advice or make medical diagnoses. The material on this site may not be tailored to match your energy, health or fitness level. If you are concerned about whether any exercises identified on this site or in any of the material are right for you, DO NOT do them unless and until you have cleared it with your physician. Make sure you exercise in a large well-lit area that is free from obstacles and that you wear comfortable clothing that doesn’t inhibit movement. Stop exercising and consult your physician if you feel dizzy, faint, light-headed or if you experience any discomfort. Only you can monitor your condition during your practice. You are responsible for exercising within your limits and seeking attention and advice as appropriate. Never force or strain.
The online yoga classes available on this website involve strenuous physical movement. Such activity carries the risk of injury whether physical or mental. You understand that it is your responsibility to judge your physical and mental capabilities for these activities. It is your responsibility to ensure that by participating in classes and activities from this site, you will not exceed your limits, and you will select the appropriate level of classes for your skills and abilities, as well as for any mental or physical conditions and/or limitations you have.
By participating in this exercise or exercise program, you agree that you do so at your own risk, are voluntarily participating in these activities, assume all risk of injury to yourself, and agree to forever hold harmless, release and discharge Katie West Yoga from any and all claims or causes of action, known or unknown, arising out of your use of these materials.
Conditions relating to Retreats and Yoga holidays
5. Retreat prices
All advertised retreat prices are subject to availability and can be withdrawn or varied by us for any reason without notice prior to booking and payment of deposit. Prices are quoted in Australian dollars (AUD) for retreats held within Australia and United States dollars (USD) for retreats outside of Australia.
We may increase the price of your booking at any time before your booking is paid in full to reflect any changes in our costs related to your booking which are beyond our reasonable control, which may include (without limitation) exchange rates fluctuations, fees imposed by third parties including tourist taxes.
6. Retreat dates and destinations
All advertised and booked retreat dates and destinations are indicative until departure. We will use reasonable endeavors to ensure booked retreats take place as advertised, however we reserve the right to change or cancel the dates and destinations of retreats for any reason and at any time prior to departure.
In the event we change the dates of a booked retreat pursuant to this clause and either the new date is not suitable for you, or we are unable to provide a new indicative date within a reasonable period after the change, then you will receive a credit note (Retreat Credit) for any deposit or other amount paid by you. You will not be entitled to a refund or any other remedy.
7. Retreat payment
A deposit in the amount specified must be paid before bookings will be processed. Payment of the deposit means you have accepted our terms and conditions and you accept this is a non-refundable deposit. You will be notified by email when your booking is confirmed.
Unless otherwise indicated, the balance of the price must be paid in full no later than 30 days prior to the scheduled departure date or earlier subject to individual international operators’ policies. Full payment is required immediately if you make a booking within 30 days of the departure date.
In some circumstances we may offer payment plan alternatives. If we do, and you select that payment alternative, then you must make each payment by the due dates indicated on the booking page.
Where full payment or any part thereof is not made by the due date, we may treat your booking as being cancelled by you. In that instance we will retain any applicable cancellation fees and refund the balance of your payment as a Retreat Credit.
8. Retreat cancellation by participant
You must notify us of cancellations and changes to bookings in writing and as soon as possible. We recommend you take out travel insurance at the time of booking.
If you do choose to cancel, the following cancellation policy applies:
- Deposits are non-refundable;
- Cancellation between 6 months and 30 days prior to travel will incur a cancellation fee of 65% of the total amount of the trip;
- Cancellation later than 30 days prior to travel will mean that the full cost of the trip is non-refundable but transferable.
9. Force majeure
In the event of a Force Majeure, there is no refund. Your funds will be placed in a Retreat Credit less any unrecoverable costs associated with the retreat. Your Retreat Credit may be used on any Katie West Yoga retreat departure for up to 12 months from your original date of departure. A “Force Majeure Event” includes acts of God, fire, earthquake, flood or other extreme weather events, war, civil commotion, riot, blockade or embargo, union dispute, epidemic, pandemic, lack or failure of courses of supply, passage of any law, order, regulation, ordinance, proclamation or requirement or any other act of any government authority, outside of our reasonable control whether or not foreseeable, which renders performance impossible.
10. Minimum retreat numbers
Minimum numbers for retreats will depend on the type of package. For overseas retreats, a minimum number of people is required on any given departure date to guarantee that departure.
Where a group falls below minimum numbers, customers will be notified at least 6 weeks from the intended departure date and receive a full refund. Please ensure you have appropriate level of travel insurance to cover you.
11. Retreat Credits
All Retreat Credits are valid for use for 12 months from the date of issue. You are not entitled to a refund or any other remedy for any unused portion of an expired Retreat Credit. We may extend the validity of Retreat Credits for a longer period where we have not provided a reasonable opportunity for the holder to use the Retreat Credit. Please note, retreat costs may increase in this transferable time in which case you will be required to pay the difference.
12. Travel insurance
It is your responsibility to obtain an appropriate travel insurance plan covering all dates and destinations of travel including domestic bookings and your policy must cover ‘YOGA’. We recommend starting this policy at the time of your booking. This is in case of injury, illness, emergency, death, medical expenses or cancellation. If participating in more adventurous activities such as trekking, then the highest altitude reached during the itinerary must be included as well as emergency repatriation (including helicopter rescue and air ambulance where applicable). You will be required to provide documentary evidence confirming that you hold the above travel insurance prior to departure. We reserve the right to request evidence of your travel insurance and may, in our complete discretion, refuse to accept your booking where you do not hold appropriate insurance.
13. Retreat health and safety
You are wholly responsible for your own health, safety and wellbeing at all times during the retreat, including during all activities. You must be able to perform yoga and all types of movement which are described to be performed during the particular retreat. Retreats with Katie West Yoga include activities such as breathwork, swimming, remedial massage and for retreats where trekking is specified, this also includes walking 5000 meters above sea level..
You must complete the health check form and declare any health, medical or dietary issues and requirements to us at the time of your booking and where necessary update that information prior to departure and during the retreat. Based on your disclosures, we may require you to provide a medical certificate confirming that it is safe for you to participate in a retreat. You are free to stop or decline participating in any activity at any time for any reason.
You must also ensure that you are aware of any health requirements for your travel destinations and ensure that you carry all necessary vaccination documentation. You should consult your doctor regarding health requirements for your destination and your suitability to participate in the activities provided.
14. Passports, visas and vaccinations
You must ensure you have valid passports, visas, re-entry permits and required vaccinations which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities for all locations of your booking. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities are your sole responsibility.
You release and indemnify Katie West Yoga from all responsibility and liability for any refusal of entry, detainment, or other action of immigration or other government authorities which may occur to you in connection with a retreat.

If you need information regarding visa and other travel document requirements for your trip please let us know. We can obtain such information from an external visa advisory service provider on your behalf. We do not warrant the accuracy of such information and accept no liability for any loss or damage which you may suffer in reliance on it.
Conditions applicable to both online yoga and retreats
15. Liability
Subject to law and except as expressly provided to the contrary in these terms and conditions, all terms, conditions, warranties, undertakings, inducements or representations whether express, implied, statutory or otherwise relating in any way to a retreat, our services and these terms and conditions are excluded. Without limiting the generality of the preceding sentence, Katie West Yoga shall not be under any liability to you in respect of any loss or damage (including consequential loss or damage) however caused which may be suffered or incurred by you other than as a direct result of our failure or omission to comply with our obligations under these terms and conditions.
Our maximum liability for any act, failure, omission, event or occurrence where our liability is not excluded shall be limited to any one or more of the following: (i) the supplying of the services again; or (ii) the payment of the cost of having the services supplied again, as we elect in our sole and absolute discretion.
16. Privacy
By booking with us you acknowledge that we will collect, use and disclosure your personal information (including to our third party service providers) as we reasonably require to provide the service to you, and for other reasons permitted under privacy laws (including direct marketing).
17. Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Australia and apply to the extent that they are NOT inconsistent with, or in contravention of, any obligation imposed on Katie West Yoga by local law in the country of travel.
18. Severability
If any provision of these terms and conditions should be held to be invalid or unenforceable, in whole or in part, the validity of all other provisions of these terms and conditions (and any part of the subject provision which is not held to be invalid or unenforceable) shall not be affected and shall remain in force.
